DVD Teaches Kids Emotion

Kids with autism often have a tough time recognizing emotion in others. But a DVD designed by some of the world’s leading autism researchers is helping many children learn what happy versus sad faces look like.

The DVD, called “The Transporters,” features vehicles — including a train, a ferry and a cable car — which have faces on them. The idea is that predictable vehicles like trains are comforting to those with autism, but putting faces on these “characters” forces the viewer to focus on facial expressions, reports The Associated Press.
