Special Education Vouchers Illegal, Court Says

A voucher program allowing special needs students to use tax dollars to attend private schools is not legal, the Arizona Supreme Court ruled this week.

The program violates the state constitution, which forbids helping private schools using public funds, the court said.

The program provided checks made payable to parents, which they then endorsed over to the school of their choice. Supporters of the program say they may now seek to amend the state constitution, reports the Arizona Daily Star. To read more click here.
