They say there’s an Apple app for everything from finding an apartment to navigating and reading comic books. Now there’s even an app to help you talk.
Much like the communication board of yesteryear, an app called Proloquo2Go helps people with disabilities who either can’t talk or have difficulty communicating. Users touch icons signifying certain thoughts and then the app, which can be used on an Apple iPhone or iPod Touch, verbalizes the thought.
While the technology is not new — there are several text-to-speech products available — the price point of $149.99 makes the app attractive compared to bulky, more expensive equipment which can cost thousands. Plus, there’s the cool factor of having a device that looks just like everyone else’s, reports USA Today. To read more click here.
