My friend was denied an apartment in a subsidized SRO for people with AIDS because he is legally blind. (He is HIV+also) The manager told him he was worried he would start a fire cooking! He has lived in a regular rooming house for the last six months and cooked all his meals with never a fire and sometimes fixes plates for his housemates. But he has gotten stuck paying $485 a month ont of an income of $670 in SSI because of his visual impairment. Even handicapped housing discriminates when they don't like your disability!!
