A Texas jury convicted the first former state institution employee to stand trial Thursday since officials discovered cell phone videos of employees forcing residents with disabilities to fight each other earlier this year.

Jesse Salazar was found guilty of causing injury to a disabled person. He faces up to 10 years in prison.

Salazar was the first of six former employees charged in the case to go to trial. Two of them already plead guilty and trials for the remaining three charged in the case will begin next week.

In March, authorities discovered cell phone videos uncovering a so-called “fight club” at the Corpus Christi State School in Corpus Christi, Texas whereby residents were forced by employees into overnight fights, which police say went on nearly every night for over a year, reports ABC News.
