A San Francisco area doughnut shop which sparked outrage earlier this year for offering doughnuts called the “bipolar” and the “psycho” is making some changes.
Psycho Donuts recently changed the names of some of its products. For example, the “bipolar” is now called “mood swing” and “massive head trauma,” is now the “headbanger.” The store also has a new Web site featuring links to mental health advocacy groups.
When Psycho Donuts opened in March its owners said they wanted to do something different to make their doughnuts stand out. But mental health advocates charged that the shop, which includes a a padded booth and group therapy area where customers can chow down, merely perpetuated unfair stereotypes.
The owner of the shop says he never meant to offend anyone, reports the San Jose Mercury News. To read more click here.
