Actor John Travolta revealed for the first time Wednesday that his son Jett had autism.
It was long speculated that the teen who died earlier this year at age 16 had autism, but Travolta and his wife Kelly Preston had always denied the claim saying only that Jett had Kawasaki disease. Some suggested that the family would not acknowledge an autism diagnosis because of their belief in Scientology.
But on Wednesday, Travolta came forward about the diagnosis, saying, “my son was autistic and he suffered from seizure disorder every 5 to 10 days.”
The comments came as Travolta testified in a Bahamas court against a paramedic and former Bahamas senator who are accused of trying to extort $25 million from the actor.
In exchange for the money, prosecutors allege the two told Travolta that they would not leak information about Jett’s treatment to the media, reports People Magazine. To read more click here.
