Perhaps those really did not have merit based on their criteria and direction. Acknowledging that vaccines are "one of a number of environmental exposures that could be studied" actually makes a lot of sense for foundational research, admittedly long overdue but a very complex idea. Also the research into possible sub-populations who may be predisposed to environmental impacts that cause autism makes sense, although admittedly the SUB is getting to be a rather large group the more we define it and survey it. Immune challenges are on the rise so we have to investigate quickly and with a remarkable precision. Perhaps it is time to put the baby before the vaccine.
