Schools already use Intellectual Disability. Georgia has used it for 2 decades. But there are worse words than "retarded". Remember "mental defective"? How about the "little moron" jokes. Back then it was Moron, Imbecile and Idiot. I think the disability communities might need to reclaim its language with its people who are successful in what they do much as gay people are trying to accomplish. But the most important thing is for kids to be taught not to call people out of their name or reject them for things they cannot control. Bullying must go. May as well.
