Mardi Gras will be extra special this year for a group of kids with disabilities. That’s because a New Orleans synagogue is constructing a parade viewing stand to accommodate their wheelchairs.

The stand located in front of the Touro Synagogue on St. Charles Avenue will be open for two parades this week, the Ancient Druids on Wednesday and Muses on Thursday. Fifteen to 20 children will be able to sit on the stand each night below a sign that reads “V.I.P. Kids.”

Not only is the stand unique because it will accommodate wheelchairs, but organizers have also ensured that there will be space for kids who need a break and that the children will have access to a bathroom nearby, reports The (New Orleans) Times-Picayune. To read more click here.
