More people with disabilities were employed in February, data released Friday by the Department of Labor indicates.
The rate of unemployment among this population dipped to 13.8 percent in February compared to 15.2 percent the previous month. In the meantime, the number of people with disabilities in the labor force also grew.
The trend was similar among the rest of the population where the unemployment rate went down slightly to 10.3 percent from 10.4 percent. These numbers are not seasonally adjusted.
The Department of Labor began tracking employment among people with disabilities in October 2008. The data covers people with disabilities over the age of 16 who do not live in institutions. The first employment report specific to this population was made available in February 2009. Now, reports are released monthly.
