I have seen this with my own eyes. I don't blame that couple one bit if they file a suit against the state; I hope they win it too!!! As part of an inter-ability marriage hoping to adopt, we, too have been questioned about our ability to raise a child. It would seem that instead of telling a couple they cannot take care of a child, we could instead help foster a sense of community, support, and creative solutions. Missouri officials need to get the message that being impaired in some way does not automatically render someone incapable of caring for a child.
