A British judge is delaying making any decisions in the case of a mother who’s seeking approval to sterilize her 21-year-old daughter with intellectual disability, saying not enough information is available yet.

The mother, known in court as Mrs. P, asked that her daughter be sterilized when she gives birth to her second child Wednesday by caesarean section. Already caring for her daughter and one grandchild, Mrs. P said she could not take on any future children beyond the second baby.

Mrs. P told the judge that her daughter refused a birth control shot and became pregnant with her second child shortly after giving birth to the first, leading her to fear that another pregnancy will occur in short order.

While sympathetic to the mother’s situation, the judge said he did not yet have enough evidence to make a decision and delayed further action until April, reports The (London) Guardian. To read more click here.
