Due to popular demand, a documentary about two men with autism will get a 100-city showing this month on the heels of a smaller nationwide release in April.

Screenings of “Wretches & Jabberers” will take place May 12 at movie theaters in almost every major city across the country.

The film features Tracy Thresher and Larry Bissonnette, both of whom have autism and communicate primarily through typing. It follows the pair as they travel the globe and work to alter people’s attitudes about disabilities.

Last month, “Wretches & Jabberers” screened at AMC Theatres in 40 cities in honor of autism awareness month through a special deal with the Autism Society. Organizers of that initiative said many of the film’s screenings sold out.

“The public response to Wretches & Jabberers is overwhelming,” said Kirt Eftekhar, co-founder of Area23a, which is promoting the film. “We’ve gotten pleas from all around the world to broaden the distribution.”
