One of the voices behind the new film “Cars 2” will offer kids with autism a preview of the Disney-Pixar movie weeks before it opens to the public.
John Ratzenberger, who does the voice for the character Mack, is working with the advocacy group Autism Speaks to host a preview screening of “Cars 2” in 3D this Saturday in New York City.
The screening will be autism friendly, meaning that the volume will be lower than usual and the lights will be turned up, Ratzenberger said in a blog post for Autism Speaks. There will also be a quiet room available for anyone who needs a break.
Ratzenberger, who’s well-known for his role as Cliff Clavin on “Cheers,” is a longtime supporter of Autism Speaks.
“Cars 2” opens nationwide on June 24.

I am jealous that NYC is the only place that gets a “Sneak Peek” of the movie…we have children with either autism in Oklahoma City, OK! I am a BIG supporter of Autism Speaks as a parent, coordinator of fundraisers and advocacy. We don’t have the support, media coverage or the celebrities to promote special events like this for our children who would also enjoy what these NYC children are receiving this Saturday…I hope they know how lucky they are to have John Ratzenberger & Autism Speaks in their corner!!
I am surprised that the guy voicing the Grimlin car isn’t hosting it. His daughter has autism.
We are blessed to have AMC here in Covina that shows Autistic shows every first Saturday of the month:)
