“30 Rock” star Tracy Morgan is in hot water after making comments about children with disabilities during a stand-up comedy routine in New York over the weekend.
“Don’t ever mess with women who have retarded kids,” Morgan said toward the end of his performance Saturday night, according to The New York Times. “Them young retarded males is strong. They’re strong like chimps.”
The comments come just weeks after Morgan sparked an uproar with anti-gay remarks during a Nashville, Tenn. show. During his routine, Morgan said he would stab his son if he were to come out as gay.
Since then, however, Morgan apologized and met with several in the gay community, including audience members from the Nashville performance.
Morgan’s most recent comments make him the latest in a string of celebrities to raise eyebrows for using the word “retarded.” In just the last few months, both Lady Gaga and LeBron James have issued apologies for using such language.

Mr. Morgan should think before he speaks. His brand of comedy is not funny. Also, I believe that he has a sibling and/or a relative with a developmental disability.
What a jerk. I never liked him on 30 Rock. Without Tina Fey he would have become another SNL has been.
It seems that Mr. Morgan needs sensitivity training; he cannot use the excuse of being a comedian as an excuse to insult and hurt others. Especially those with disabilitites, who cannot stand up for themselves. When will people learn the power of words and use/choose them wisely. Apologize Mr. Morgan – do the right thing. Set an example for others.
I challenge Tracy Morgan and other Comics to take the following pledge on: http://www.r-word.org/
I pledge and support the elimination of the derogatory use of the r-word from everyday speech and promote the acceptance and inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities.
Talented comedians don’t have to rely on making fun of persons who are differently abled or have cognitive disabilties in their routines. Be the change you want to see in this world.
I dont understand just how someone canmake such a incredulous comment when he has no idea just how it feels to have to raise one with special needs. my son has autism and i would not change him for no one,,,
