Among the models strutting the runway at New York Fashion Week will be a woman with Down syndrome.

Jamie Brewer, an actress best known for appearing on FX’s “American Horror Story,” will be modeling for designer Carrie Hammer as part of her “Role Models Not Runway Models” show.

The appearance during Hammer’s show Thursday will reportedly make Brewer, 30, the first with Down syndrome to model during New York’s signature week for apparel designers.

“Young girls and even young women … (see me) and say ‘hey, if she can do it so can I,'” Brewer told TODAY. “It’s a true inspiration being a role model for any young women to (encourage them) in being who they are and showing who they are.”

Hammer previously included a model who uses a wheelchair during her New York Fashion Week show last year. She told TODAY that Brewer will wear black in honor of the dark, scary storyline on “American Horror Story.”
