ATLANTA — Asher Nash — the Georgia boy with Down syndrome who has taken the internet by storm — is officially a published model.

Asher’s ads for OshKosh B’gosh hit the company’s website and social media accounts over the weekend, a few months after his mom began campaigning for the company to use more diverse children in its advertising — and just in time for Christmas.

After being posted on OshKosh’s Instagram page Sunday, one of the toddler’s photos accrued more than 4,800 likes and comments like, “Thank you #oshkoshkids for not discriminating.”

In her own post, Asher’s mom, Meagan Richter Nash, said she felt “so many emotions seeing these pictures come to life.”

The Nashes’ journey began in July, when Meagan submitted her son’s photos to a talent agency handling a casting call for OshKosh, the popular children’s clothing brand owned by Atlanta-based Carter’s. She never heard anything back and, a few months later, contacted the talent agency.

The agency told her that Asher’s photos hadn’t even been submitted because OshKosh “didn’t specify that they wanted a baby with special needs.”

Meagan Nash took to social media, her family’s story was picked up by media organizations around the world and OshKosh eventually agreed to meet with them — and to feature Asher in a new ad campaign.

“My intentions were not for me to tell anyone my son needs to be in there over anyone else,” Meagan Nash said in October. “I’m really just trying to take a stand for him and other children and babies and adults like him.”
