Weekend Relief For Burned Out Parents

Burnout is easy to come by when you’re caring for a child whose disability includes big medical needs. But for stretched parents in California, there is one place to go for respite. Every weekend a program called Together We Grow hosts about 30 children with special needs. Nurses and nurses aides staff the program which caters to ages 2 through 21. The program is funded by the state and is free for participants.

For the kids, Together We Grow is like going to camp for the weekend, filled with socialization and activities like art and story time. But for mom and dad, it is a much needed opportunity to relax and refuel, reports KPBS, the San Diego PBS affiliate. To read more click here.
