A new reality show featuring the family of a nonverbal teen with autism is coming to television.

The show “Leave It to Geege” follows Geege Taylor, a twice-divorced single mom in the Atlanta area and her family. Taylor’s son Pootie, 19, has autism and is nonverbal.

“My autistic son Pootie lays down the dance floor that we all dance upon,” Taylor says in a trailer introducing the series, which also includes Taylor’s mother Puddin’, daughter Harper and her best friends Nicky, George and Tyler.

Clips from the show find Taylor talking about how the family is “still struggling to find a really functional communication system” for Pootie and about her desire to be an advocate for those who are neurodivergent.

“I hope one day to change the conversation about autism,” Taylor says, “to change the culture.”

“Leave It to Geege” premieres Jan. 12 at 10 p.m. on Lifetime.
