You Snooze, You Lose, At Least When It Comes To State Dollars
Two years ago South Carolina allocated $10.5 million for an autism program. But, in June the program will go broke even though less than $700,000 has been spent.
Why? South Carolina is cutting the budget of the agency which oversees the program, reports The Greenville (S.C.) News. If the agency had already spent the full $10.5 million, however, it would have received an additional $19 million to $23 million in federal matching funds, reports The (Columbia, S.C.) State.
