Authorities in India are looking into claims that 34 children with disabilities were buried in sand up to their chins during this week’s solar eclipse.

The practice, which was approved by the children’s parents, was reportedly an attempt to rid them of their disabilities. The children and their parents left the site before police arrived and no arrests have been made in the case.
