A new television movie debuting later this year will feature an actress with Down syndrome in the lead role.

Hallmark Movies & Mysteries said that it will air the romance “Color My World with Love.”

The movie stars Lily D. Moore, who has Down syndrome, as Kendall, a talented artist with the chromosomal disorder who creates Impressionist-style paintings. She meets Brad, played by David DeSanctis who also has Down syndrome, in a cooking class at a center for diverse learners and romance blossoms.

Kendall’s mom Emma — who has spent decades protecting her — is not sure about the new relationship and how fast it’s progressing and she tries to slow things down. But a longtime friend of Brad’s helps Emma understand that Kendall is ready to live her life and Emma realizes that she might be ready for love again too.

“Everyone has a dream to fall in love and get married one day, even people with disabilities,” said Moore who’s known for playing Rebecca on “Never Have I Ever” on Netflix. “I hope viewers take away that ‘Color My World with Love’ is about painting your own story through your emotions and that we all have endless possibilities.”

Production on the movie recently wrapped, Hallmark said.
